William E. LaClair Obituary

William E. LaClair, 81, of Dexter, NY, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at Oswego Hospital. 

He was born on December 22, 1942, in Theresa, NY, to Rufus and Christine (Aloan) LaClair.   William attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Watertown and enlisted in the United States Army in 1960, proudly serving in Korea before being honorably discharged in January 1963. 

On March 10, 1962, William married Carolyn Kidder at the Copenhagen Methodist Church, and the couple spent their entire married life together in Dexter. William worked as a truck driver for Agway in Watertown and Adams Center for a total of 35 years, retiring in 1998. He was a dedicated member of the  Klock - Smith Post 1788 American Legion  and  member of the Dexter Methodist Church.  William enjoyed playing cards, bowling and golfing in which he participated in many leagues over the years, includng a co-ed league with his wife. 

William is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Carolyn  LaClair; his granddaughter, Felicia LaClair of Woodbridge, VA; and his two great grandsons, Cayden and Max. 

He was predeceased by his two sons, Stephen and Scott  LaClair, his sister, Clarice Thomson, and his brother, Wayne LaClair  . 

In accordance with his wishes, William will be cremated. Military honors will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Klock - Smith Post 1788 American Legion, Main Street, Lafargeville, NY. A celebration of life will immediatly follow until 4 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Dexter Cemetery.

In honor of William’s memory, donations may be made to the Dexter Methodist Church or Pivot Prevention and Health Services 167 Polk St., Watertown, NY 13601.
