William Hodge Sr. Obituary

In loving memory of William D. Hodge Sr.

William D. Hodge Sr., 72, of Dexter, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on February 24, 2024. William was born on December 19, 1951, in Watertown, NY, to parents Arthur and Evelyn Hodge. He spent his formative years in Rochester, NY, before moving to North Carolina, where he worked as a tractor-trailer driver for many years. In 2011, he returned to Rochester to live with his son, and in 2018, he moved to Dexter to live with his sister.

William was married to Sharon Willette until 1980, and later married Bonnie Fletcher. Although their marriage ended in divorce, they remained close until the end. William was a skilled craftsman who loved building things and found great joy in tackling challenges. He held a deep passion for science and politics and enjoyed intellectual discussions.

In his leisure time, William found solace in camping and fishing. He cherished his dog Chloe who was his best friend and companion.

William is survived by his daughter, Dawn M. Hodge, and his son, William D. Hodge Jr. “Billy”, and daughter-in-law Penny L. Hodge of Rochester, NY. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Alexis Willette, Sonia (Jessica) Vittorio, Jonathan Hodge and Bradley Hodge, as well as great-grandchildren Allison, Logan, AvaMae and Charlotte. He is also survived by his brother, Arthur (Patricia) Hodge, of North Carolina and sister Susan "Suzy" Bowman of Dexter, NY, and nieces and nephews.
