Wayne M. Roshia Sr.,84, of Brownville, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 15, 1940, in Watertown, Wayne was the son of Morris and Dortha (Monica) Roshia. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1960. On September 24, 1960, he married the love of his life, Cynthia Hart, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories.
Wayne began a long and diverse career in the grocery and retail industries. He started with a local Greek grocery store and later joined P&C Food Inc., where he worked until 1976. He and his wife later opened and ran the Limerick Market, their own grocery store, until 1982.
After selling the Limerick Market, Wayne began a 15-year career with Coca-Cola as an 18-wheel truck driver, delivering to stores across the region. He also worked part-time as a merchandiser for Keebler Cookie.
Wayne was known for his kind and caring nature, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile. A deeply social person, he loved meeting new people and building lasting friendships wherever he went. He also carried a heavy heart, as he deeply missed his two daughters, April and Annette, who passed away after battles with cancer, and held their memories close to him throughout his life.
He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and boating. He cherished days at the family cottage in Chaumont and treasured time with his loved ones. His happiest moments were spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia; his son, Wayne Roshia Jr., and his wife, Belinda, of Massena; his daughters, Jacqueline and her husband, Bruce Barlow, of Hyde Park, and Michelle and her husband, Richard Tarbell, of Erie, Pennsylvania; a son-in-law, Jeffrey West, of Brownville; a sister-in-law, Jane Cooper, Lawton, OK and his brother-in-law John Hart and his wife, Ann; He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughters, April Rivers and Annette West, and his sisters, Martha and Julia Roshia.
He was member of the Teamsters and the Sons of the American Legion Post 583 in Dexter.
Wayne will be remembered for his kind heart, warm personality, and devotion to his family.
A funeral Mass for Wayne and his beloved duaghter Annette West will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, May 2nd, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, followed by burial in Brownville Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
