UBeryl D. (Winnie) Cote Obituary

UBeryl D. (Winnie) Cote, 96, a resident at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home in Troy, NY, entered into eternal rest on February 15, 2026 following a long struggle with Alzheimer/Dementia disease. 

She was born on May 6, 1929, in Sandy Creek, NY, the daughter of the late William and Pauline Winegar.

Winnie was a caring and loving person who always tried to help her family and friends.  She lived many years in Halfmoon, NY, raising her children. Winnie and her husband, Ken, moved to Dexter, NY, where they owned and operated the Black River Bay Campground.  Upon retiring they moved to Zephyrhills, FL, where she made many friends.  After her husband’s passing Winnie moved back to NY, where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Pattie and Jim LeFebvre, who lovingly cared for her for many years.

She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Ellen Johnson, Patricia LeFebvre, Brenda (George) Cean, and Karen (Douglas) Cote-Hiscock; two sons and daughters-in -law, Kenneth (Audrianna) Cote Jr., and Steven (Victoria) Cote; and she was “Grandma Cote” to 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  

Winnie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 yrs Kenneth Cote Sr., her daughter Nancy, son in-laws, James LeFebvre and George Johnson Jr., and 3 sisters.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home in Dexter, NY. A funeral service will be held in the spring (date and time to be announced) at the Dexter United Methodist Church at 210 Kirby St., Dexter, NY. Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
