TERRY R. CHASE SR., 76
Terry R. Chase Sr., age 76, of Haines City, Florida, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Florida Hospital, Orlando, FL after post-operative complications from open-heart surgery. He was the beloved fiancee' of Bette Isereau of Statesville, NC.
Terry was born in Watertown, New York on May 4, 1940 and grew up in Glen Park, N.Y. He was the son of the late Gordon Chase and Vivian (Compeau) Chase. Terry retired from Key Bank and the New York State DOT in Watertown, N.Y. after over 30 years of service, as a Permit and Civil Engineer.
Terry leaves behind two sons; Terry Chase, Jr. and his wife, Louise Chase of Enfield, CT and Todd Chase of Baltimore, MD; a sister Judy Gracey, of Dexter, N.Y.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janet and Michael Parks of Dexter, N.Y. Terry also leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as cherished nieces, cousins and close friends. Terry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis (Chapman) Chase (October 5, 2015) after a six year battle with breast cancer, his much loved daughter, Melinda Chase, who passed from a life long struggle with liver disease at the age of 16 (August, 1981) and his loved sister, Patricia "Patsy" (Chase) Heidelberger (August 8, 2009).
Terry cherished his many relationships with his fiancée, family, and friends, and carried them in his heart always. All who knew Terry considered him to be the finest person they ever knew. He was a best friend to many and a living example of love, commitment, and tenacity.
Terry was not only considered to be a jack of all trades, but a master of all, being able to build, fix and repair anything his family and friends brought to him. Terry was an avid music lover and a talented, self-taught musician. He appreciated a wide variety of music with Gospel Bluegrass being his favorite. Music touched his soul and was a great source of joy. He played the piano, 4 and 5 string banjos, 4 and 6 string guitars, violin and harmonica and especially enjoyed having his son, Terry Jr., join him on guitar.
Funeral services are being handled by Johnson's Funeral Home, Dexter, N.Y. A graveside memorial and committal service will be held for both Terry and Phyllis Chase at The Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, N.Y. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Terry's name to kidsPACK; a Florida charity in which Terry was involved, which addresses childhood hunger in Central Florida.
