Sally A. Cote

Sally A. Cote, 81, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. 

She was born on September 1, 1944, the daughter of Murray R. and Dorothy M. (Dwyer) Hawley. Sally was a graduate of Clifton-Fine Central School.

She married Charles Cote, and the couple spent most of their married life in Star Lake and Heuvelton, before later moving to Tennessee and Ocala, Florida. Following her husband’s passing in 2014, Sally returned to Ogdensburg, where she resided for the remainder of her life.

Sally dedicated much of her career to helping others, working for many years as a substance abuse counselor in St. Lawrence County until her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling.

She is survived by her four children: Charles Cote of Russell, NY, David Cote of Crawfordville, FL, Stephanie (Matthew) Daniels of Kentucky, and Stephen (Virginia) Cote of Colorado

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Sally was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Charles Clarence Cote; and her brother, Murray S. “Steve” Hawley.

Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. 

A Funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 31 at the St. Raphael Catholic Church 3 Clinton St., Heuvelton, NY.  Burial will be held in the spring at Dexter Cemetery.
