May P. Gould,96, of Dexter, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Samaritan
Summit Village, Watertown surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 30, 1927, in the Town of Hounsfield, the daughter of Harry W. and Pauline B. (Weal) Johnson. 

May was a graduate of Dexter High School, class of 1945. On November 10, 1946, she married Edwin W Gould at the Dexter United Methodist Church, and together they built a life in Dexter, where they resided for all their married years. May was a dedicated homemaker who delighted in simple pleasures like bicycle riding, cooking and caring for her flower garden. She especially
loved spending time with her family, including her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, cherishing the moments they shared.

Her husband, Edwin, worked as a foreman at the Brownville Paper Co. and later became Superintendent for James River Corp., Brownville, retiring in 1990 after 34 years of service. May continued to live at home until April of 2021 when her health began to decline, leading to her transfer to Samaritan Summit Village.

She is survived by her four sons: Edwin Gould of Merrick, Long Island, Dale (Joan) Gould of St. Louis, Missouri, Donald (Susan) Gould of Lorraine, and Gregory (Bobbi) Gould of Watertown; 12 grandchildren: Meredith (Christian) Tateo, Brett (Lauren) Gould, Andrew (Suzi) Gould, Jessica Gould, Anna Raumschuh, Derek Gould, Samantha (Mark) Whalen, Terry (Charlene) Gould, Rebecca Gould, Jonna St. Croix (Nick Burkhard), Jo Anna Malone (Erik Dingman), and Joshua (Morgan) St. Croix; Several great- grandchildren: Marcus Tateo, Avery Gould, Emma Gould, Piper Gould, Oliver Gould, Cullen Whalen, Jackson Whalen, Luca Whalen, Jenna Gould, Will Burkhard, Lua Burkhard, Croix Malone, Traynor Malone, Daxyn Malone, Ada Rae Dingman, Brenlee(Dillan Nickels) Dingman and Taber Dingman; She also has a great- great-grandson, Luxtyn Nickels.

May is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Edwin; a son, James Gould; a daughter- in- law, Marcia Gould; four brothers: George, Samuel, Harry, and Paul Johnson; and two sisters,
Lillian Olmstead and Bernice Heise.

Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Dexter Cemetery.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Samaritan’s Summit Village for the compassionate care and kindness they showed to our mother during her time there.
