Lois R. Van Brocklin

Lois R. Van Brocklin,89 of Dexter, passed away peacefully at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 1, 1934, in Brownville, New York, the daughter of William and Anna ((McCready) Hall. She graduated from Lyme Central High School in 1953.

On June 9, 1956, she married the love of her life, Robert F. Van Brocklin, in a ceremony held in Sackets Harbor. They spent the next 65 years together residing in Dexter where Lois dedicated 38 years of her life to Dexter Elementary working in the cafeteria. She previously worked at the Black River Valley Club.

A woman of diverse passions, Lois found solace in her membership at the Dexter United Methodist Church, she was also a member of the church choir. Her love for flowers and gardening, her avid support for the New York Yankees, actively participated in the Dexter Fire Department Auxiliary, and took immense joy in watching her grandchildren excel in various sports. She also had a deep love for her nieces and nephews.

Lois, a masterful cook, and meticulous housekeeper created a warm and welcoming home for her family.

The Van Brocklin family expresses deep gratitude to the staff on the 7th floor Samaritan Keep Home for their dedicated love and care of Lois.

She is survived by her two sons; David and Lisa and Mark and Kay both of Dexter; 3 grandchildren, Zach, Hope and Nicole; 3 great grandchildren, Jaxon, Samuel, and Elijah. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Robert, and siblings: Willis, Roy, Oral, Gerald Hall, Geraldine Cratsenburg, Eileen Staie, and Iva Misuzik.

A calling hour will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 from noon until 1 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. The funeral will immediately follow at 1p.m.  The burial will take place in Dexter Cemetery on Friday, May 10th at 11 a.m..

In every sense, Lois was a caring, considerate, quiet and compassionate woman, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
