Leon A. Wood, 92 of Lakeview Dr. Dexter, passed away in Watertown under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Leon was born May 20, 1923 in Watertown the son of Clarence and Dorothy Robinson Wood. He graduated from school in Watertown. He married Velma Jareo on November 21, 1944 in Watertown. Leon was an Insurance Salesman for Prudential Insurance until he retired in 1987. He was a member of American Legion Post 61 of Watertown and #583 of Dexter. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Watertown Council #259. He is survived by four children and their spouses: Bruce and Linda Wood of Hampton, VA, David and Diane Wood of Gouverneur, Rene and Michael Thompson of Watertown, Dawn and Bruce Gibson of Evans Mills. He has 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Velma on May 4, 2007. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday December 8th at the Dexter Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Paul Gmitter of Airport Fellowship Church officiating. There are no calling hours.
