John A. Russell Sr., 60, of Brownville, New York, passed away suddenly at his home on July 7, 2025.
Born on February 1, 1965, in Glens Falls, New York, he was the son of the late William R. Russell Sr. and Jane A. (Light) Russell. John graduated from Indian River High School in 1983.
He began his professional life as a salesman for Kirby Vacuums, where he was recognized as the number one salesman in the country. He later transitioned into the automotive industry, working for Davidson’s Auto, Fucillo’s Auto, and FX Caprara’s for several years. Since 2020, John had been employed with Blue Mountain Spring Water.
John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed duck and deer hunting and was also a dedicated trapper.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, John A. Russell Jr. and Anna Russell of Mullica Hill, New Jersey; a grandson, George Russell; three sisters and their husbands: Pamela and Harold Rozanski of Glen Park, NY, Mary and Eric Ehlers of Crawfordsville, IN, and Kristin and Eric Keiderlings of South Hadley, MA; two brothers and a sister in law: William and Kelly Russell of Brownville, NY, and Jamie Russell of Theresa, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family, and burial will follow in Brownville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the SPCA or the American Heart Association.
