Jean Charlebois Rogers, 88, of Hounsfield, NY passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2025. He was surrounded by his beloved family.
Born on September 14, 1936, in Watertown, NY, he was the son of Kenneth C. and Eva C. (Charlebois) Rogers. Jean was a graduate of Sackets Harbor Central School class of 1954.
In February 1965 he married Sharry A. Reinhardt at the Dexter Episcopal Church. The couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Together, they owned and operated a dairy farm and raised a family.
For 47 years Jean served as the Assessor for the Town of Hounsfield. He was a member of Rutland Hills Dairy Cooperative, as well as a proud 50-year member of the Grange. His community was important to him, as was his commitment to family and farming traditions.
Jean loved riding through the Pennsylvania countryside, visiting his children and grandchildren, soft ice cream, Hess trucks, crab legs, red tractors and books about tractors, oysters on the half shell, reminiscing, a Sam Adams draft beer, and visiting The Crystal for a Tom & Jerry each Christmas season.
Jean is survived by his wife, Sharry; his children, Zachary (Sarah) Rogers of Watertown, NY, Shayne Rogers of Richmond, VA, Matthew Rogers of Watertown, NY, and Mark (Jerri) Rogers of Mebane, NC; as well as four cherished grandchildren, Craig (Emily) Rogers, Amanda (Shane) Rowell, Ella Rogers and Jack Rogers; a great granddaughter, Eva Rogers; his sister-in-law Thelma Rogers of Watertown, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Janet S. Lupia and brother, John W. Rogers.
The Rogers family is so very grateful for the kindness and compassion shown to Jean by his caregivers.
