Glenn E. Thompson, 83, of Watertown, NY, passed away on November 11, 2024, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 22, 1941 in Watertown, Glenn was the beloved son of Hubert A. and Viola R. Thompson. He attended local schools in Watertown before proudly serving in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963, remaining in the reserves until 1967. After his honorable discharge, Glenn worked at and helped operate a family owned ESSO service station from 1963 to 1965. In 1965, he joined Fort Drum’s sheet metal division and later transitioned to the HVAC and refrigeration section, where he eventually retired as a supervisor in 1995.
On May 13, 1973, Glenn married Barbara Rosch in Alexandria Bay. Together, they shared over fifty years of love, family, and cherished memories.
Glenn was a man of many talents, with a lifelong passion for music. He loved playing his bass guitar and performed in several local bands, including Ruffus, Raven, Raising Kane, and Rain. Music was one of his greatest joys, and he often took part in the Hamm Jamm, where he cherished the camaraderie of fellow musicians.
Glenn also owned Rainbow Electronics, where he sold and repaired CB radios, as well as GET Sound, a business dedicated to repairing music equipment and providing sound reinforcement.
Above all, Glenn loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed camping trips, fishing excursions, and quiet moments shared with loved ones. He was a devoted fan of the NY Yankees, Brooklyn Nets, and SU football and basketball. His warmth and devotion to family left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Glenn was a very proud Papa. He could always be found supporting Kael during his soccer and baseball games and Cooper at gymnastics meets.
Glenn is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara, a daughter, Tasha Thompson of Black River, and a daughter and son-in-law, Danelle and Eric Hoselton of Watertown. He was a proud grandfather to two grandchildren, Cooper and Kael Hoselton of Watertown. Glenn also leaves behind his brother, Artie Thompson, of Florida, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dean and Jerry Thompson.
In keeping with Glenn’s wishes, services will be private for the family and there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Trinity Episcopal Church, 227 Sherman Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
