Gary R. Doane

Gary R. Doane, 68, formerly of Sackets Harbor, New York, peacefully passed away on December 1, 2023, in Denver, Colorado, where he resided since 2021. 

Born on August 1, 1955, in Watertown, New York, he was the son of Douglas W. and Myrna M. (Haller) Doane. Gary graduated from Sackets Harbor Central High School in 1973, where he ran track, played football, baseball and basketball, and was affectionately known as Hot Dog. 

Following graduation, he embarked on a journey exploring the world, working on oil rigs in Africa, for Emcore in Albuquerque, New Mexico, working construction, and engaging in various jobs across the United States. He was a free spirit, wanderer and loved by all.  Gary lived life on his own terms "His Way". He was especially a devoted fan of the Syracuse Orangemen. 

He is survived by two sisters Marilyn L. Hanson of Evans Mills, New York, and Sandra L. Terrone of Willis, Texas, along with several nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, George A. Doane, a great niece, Heather Coughenour, and great nephew, Joshua Doane. 

Arrangements are with the Hart and Bruce Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
