Frederick R. Priestly

Frederick R. Priestly, of Cape Vincent, NY, passed away on his 90th birthday, July 2, 2025 at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where he had been a resident.

He was born on July 2, 1935 in NY, son of Howard and Adah (Holloway) Priestly.

He entered the US Army on February 20, 2956 and was honorably discharged on January 31, 1962 as a Private.  He then served in the US Coast Guard as a Pilot from October 17, 1962 until his honorable discharge on October 17, 1966. He received the National Defense Service Medal. 

Fred resided in Cape Vincent following his service in the military and became a pilot and boat captain for the St. Lawrence Seaway in Cape Vincent up until his retirement.

He is survived by a grandson, Derek Seymour; three nieces Kathy (Denny) Lane, Marty (Tim) Ryan and Sandy (Don) Hogan all of Dexter; several great nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, his companion, Jane Seymour, a sister, Gertrude Millet, two brothers, James and Ronald Priestly, brother-in-law, Tom Millet and a sister-in-law Dolores Fitzsimmons.

Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. It was his wish to be cremated. There will be no calling hours or funeral service.

A graveside service will take place in Omar Cemetery on Wednesday, July 16th.at 1 pm  with Rev Don Robinson officiating.
