Dennis “Denny” D. Donaldson,86, of Dexter, passed away peacefully at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 26, 1937, in Watertown, New York, the son of G. Douglas and Dorothy (White) Donaldson. He graduated from Brownville/ Glen Park High school. Following school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, dedicating four years of his life to faithfully serve his country. In 1958, he was honorably discharged, having fulfilled his commitment to our nation. Denny worked for over 35 years at Premoid- James River PaperCo. as a machinist until his retirement.
Denny married Sharon Stevens on June 12, 1960, in Adams, New York. She passed away on December 20, 2007.
He found solace and joy in the serenity of the woods. He loved to hunt and cut wood, his love for the outdoors added another dimension to his rich and fulfilling life. He also enjoyed NASCAR, watching high school sports, and traveling with his wife including a trip to Alaska and Okinawa, Japan.
He cherished moments spent with his family, often sharing stories that displayed his deep love and pride for his children and grandchildren. His smile and hearty laughter were contagious, brightening the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He was a member of the Brownville American Legion Post 588 and the Brownville Fish and Game Club, where he also an officer.
Denny is survived by his three children: D. David (Linda) Donaldson, Lori Plantz, both of Dexter and Beth (Rodney) Stults of Rockwood, TN; a sister, Donna Austin, of North Carolina; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife, a son, Steven and a sister, Bonnie Goebel.
A Celebration of Life will take place 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 25th at the Dexter American Legion. The burial will be in Brownville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
