Cynthia Schreiber Obituary

Cynthia “Cindy” Schreiber, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16th, 2025 at Samaritan Summit Village, surrounded by her loving family.

Cindy was born on December 13, 1944, to Jack and Elnora (Benney) Phillips. She grew up in the area and graduated from Lyme Central School.

Cindy spent many years as a dedicated flight attendant for US Air, working out of the New Bern, North Carolina Airport. She loved her time in the skies, meeting new people and exploring the world. Cindy retired from her career in the early 1990s but never stopped caring for those around her.

A devoted daughter, Cindy returned from North Carolina to care for her mother, Elnora, and later stayed to lovingly tend to her father, Jack. Her caring nature also shone through in the special role she played in helping raise her granddaughter, Geona — a bond that brought her immeasurable joy.

Cindy is survived by her beloved children: her son, Jim Hill, whom she often affectionately called her "favorite child” and Sandi Dasno; her daughter, Darcey Wood, and son-in-law, Charlie Wood. She was an adoring grandmother to her cherished grandchildren, Cheyenne Hill and Geona Wood, both of whom she loved deeply.

Cindy’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to countless animals in need. Her passion for rescuing, fostering, and healing animals was a defining part of her life. Friends and family will always remember her for her warmth, compassion, and tireless dedication to caring for others.

Her family is grateful to the staff at Summit Village Nursing Home for the love, kindness, and even the joyful dance moves they shared with Cindy during her time there.

Per Cindy’s wishes, no services will be held. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.

In her memory, donations may be made to All Creatures Big and Small, P.O. Box 373, Lacona, New York, 13083.
Cindy’s legacy of love, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to family and animals will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
