DEXTER, NY – Barbara A. Fudala, 84, of Dexter, NY, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
She was born on December 30, 1940, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Mildred Pichette and Irving Korber. She attended Onondaga Community College and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. Barbara began her nursing career working at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital, General Electric and the Federal Office Building in Syracuse before serving at the House of the Good Samaritan, where she worked in the PCU Unit until her retirement.
On February 8, 1962, she married Karl John Fudala in Syracuse. The couple spent summers in Dexter beginning in 1964, and in 1980, they built their year-round home, where they moved in 1982.
Barbara enjoyed music, dancing, singing, reading and spending time on her back deck, looking out at the Perch River. She cherished time with family and friends, always finding joy in their company.
She is survived by her two sons, Douglas P. Fudala and his wife, Antoinette, of Port Charlotte, FL, and Karl J. Fudala and his partner, Jeffrey Hunter, of Palm Springs, CA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John “Jim” Korber, and her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Dwyer.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 16th from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be said 1 p.m. on Monday, February 17th at Immaculate Conception Church in Brownville, NY. Burial will take place on Friday, May 23rd at 10 a.m. in the Dexter Cemetery.
