Obituary

Suzanne J. Grant, 88, of Three Mile Bay, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, at the Samaritan Summit Village, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 21, 1936, in Watertown, New York, Suzanne was the cherished daughter of Gerald Gilligan and Josephine Hall.

A proud alumna of Immaculate Heart Academy, Suzanne began her career with Verizon as an operator in Watertown. Her dedication and hard work led her to a long and successful career as a customer service representative in Syracuse, where she retired in 1997. Following her retirement, she moved to Florida but returned to Three Mile Bay in 2011 to be closer to her beloved family.

Suzanne's life was centered around her family, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cherished family gatherings, where she loved sharing stories, laughter, and her wisdom with younger generations. Whether attending her grandchildren's events or hosting holidays and summer gatherings, Suzanne had a way of making each family member feel special and loved. Her warmth and joy created memories that will live on in the hearts of her family.

Beyond her love for family, Suzanne found great joy in golfing and swimming. She enjoyed the peace of the golf course and was always up for a friendly game with friends or family. Swimming was another favorite pastime, where she loved the relaxation it brought to her and the time spent in the sun, often with loved ones by her side.

Suzanne is survived by her six daughters: Katherine (Dwight) Goutremout of Three Mile Bay; Kim (Kent) Roberson of Tampa; Karen (Tom) Ruggieri of Liverpool; Kris Evans and Michael Gilligan of Three Mile Bay; Karol (Mike) Dunn of Dexter; and Kelly (Bill) Russell of Brownville. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her brother, James "Bud" Gilligan of Ocala, Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at noon, with a celebration of Suzanne's life to follow at Sally Port View, Three Mile Bay, for close friends and family.
