Obituary

Sue Wilton, 85, a longtime resident of the Town of Hounsfield, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at Samaritan Summit Village, where she had resided for the past three months.

Sue was born on September 26, 1940, in Rosiere, New York, the daughter of Kenneth and Edna (Weaver) Bourcy. She graduated from Lyme Central School and later married Robert Wilton in September of 1962. Together, they spent most of their married life in the Town of Hounsfield, where they built a loving home and raised their family.

Sue dedicated many years of service to Fay’s Department Store, where she served as the head of the Hallmark Department until her retirement. Her husband, Robert, retired from New York Air Brake. He passed away on August 5, 2013.

Sue’s greatest joy in life was her family. Her whole world centered around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Shelly Wilton of Pillar Point; her daughter, Donna Wilton of Lisbon; her grandchildren, Mike (Jen) Wilton, Jason (Robin) Wilton, and Mark Vandermill; her great-grandchildren, Lacey, Caleb, Joseph, Carly, Emily, and Kelsey; her great-great-grandson, Nolan; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Ann Bourcy of Philadelphia, New York, Thomas and Audrey Bourcy of Florida, and Ronnie and Karen Bourcy of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Robert, Sue was predeceased by her daughter, Janet Vandermill; grandson David Vandermill; her great-granddaughter, Blessing Wilton; her sister, Sherry McGuffie; and son-in-law Victor Vandermill.

Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Dexter. In keeping with Sue’s wishes, she will be cremated, and burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Dexter Cemetery.

Donations in Sue’s memory may be made to the Sulphur Springs Fire Department.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Samaritan Summit Village and to the many nurses and caregivers who provided such compassionate care and comfort during Sue’s final days.
