Born on November 30, 1941 in Lowville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Margaret (Stoffle) Jantzi.

She graduated from Lowville Academy in 1959 and worked at Samaritan Keep Home as a cook. She then transferred to Samaritan Medical Center where she was a dietary aide for 33 years, retiring in 2015.

Shirley loved life and her family. She was a kind and caring person who always put others before herself. She was a talented landscape artist and loved to give her beautiful paintings to family and friends. She had a green thumb and loved working in her flower garden. She was an animal lover and always enjoyed watching and feeding the birds that visited her garden. In her retirement years, Shirley had an active social life and loved to play cards with her many friends.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sheri (Lee) Doroha-VanAlstyne of Dexter; her son, Clifford (Mimi) Cook of Alaska; her granddaughter, Heather Slover of Tennessee; three grandsons, Jesse (Larissa) Hogue of South Glens Falls, Brian Cook of Alaska, and Matthew Cook of Alaska; and three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Cordelia, and Evelyn. She is also survived by her sister, Louise Kidder of Dexter, her brother, Solomon (Becki) Jantzi of Watertown, and several nieces and nephews. Shirley also left behind her beloved cat, Tigger.
