Ronald G. Smith, 85 of Water St. Dexter, passed away at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown Saturday morning May 4 ^th , 2019. Ronald was born March 8, 1934 in Potsdam, NY the son of Laverne and Gladys Cardinal Smith.  He graduated from Potsdam High School.  He served in the US Air Force from 1953 until 1973 retiring as a TechinicalSergeant with the 655 ^th Radar Squadron.  Following his military career Ron was self-employed as a Home Repairman. Ron married Barbara J. Kirch in November of 1976 in Watertown.  The couple lived in Watertown , NY prior to moving to Williamsburg, VA in 1989. They moved back to Dexter NY 14 years ago. His great joy was his family,  woodworking and sitting on the front porch taking in the beginning of each new day in Dexter. Surviving is his wife Barbara, and children: Terri and Jerry Rice of Albany, Mark and Lesha Smith of Texas, Lisa and Tom Greene of Watertown, NY, Cindy and Kenneth Jenne of Williamsburg, VA, Gale and Al Weller of Syracuse, Melinda Sherbino of Watertown and Cheri and Michael Baird of Bath, NY.  He has 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A Funeral service will be held Tuesday May 7 ^th at 2:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.  Calling hours will be from 1-2 PM prior to the service.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the Dexter Legion immediately following the service.
