Obituary

James Patrick Williams, 76, of Felts Mills, NY, passed away on January 13, 2024, at his home where he was under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County and surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 6, 1947, in Theresa, NY, son of Joyce Gibeau and adopted by Lynn Kermit and Elsie (Yager) Williams. He graduated from Carthage Central High School in 1965 and dedicated 44 years to NY Airbrake as a machinist, retiring on October 30, 2009.

James served in the National Guard for 13 years. He enjoyed woodworking, classic cars, hunting and collecting coins.

James is survived by his partner Carol Jason; a son James R. (Amy) Piper, Black River from his first marriage to Cynthia Brown, three daughters, Misty L. (Timothy) Barr, Carthage, NY, Deborah J. Smith, Chesapeake,VA, and Tanya G. (Adrienne) Williams, Carthage, NY from his second marriage to Helen Meyer. As well as six grandchildren - Neil, Ryan, Brandon, Alexis, Gracen and Zander and six great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parent's and a brother, Richard Williams, in 1947.

Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home in Black River. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 19th  from 4 to 6 pm followed by a 6 p.m. funeral service at the funeral home.

Friends and family are welcome to a celebration of life following the funeral on Friday at the Carthage VFW, West End Ave., Carthage, NY13619.

A private burial for the family will take place in the spring at Sanford Corners Cemetery.

Donations in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life team,Meyer and More, care of Elizabeth Porter or Hospice of Jefferson County.
