Obituary

Greg E. Dundon, 62, of Brownville, New York, passed away unexpectedly on October 1, 2026 at his home.

Greg was born on January 27, 1964, in Watertown, New York, the son of Glenn E. and Gail E. (Fitzpatrick) Dundon. He attended General Brown High School, where he enjoyed playing football, lacrosse, and wrestling.

Following high school, Greg began what would become his lifelong career at his parents’ bar, known as Dundee’s, in the Village of Brownville. Following the passing of his father in 2003, Greg took over the operation of the bar and proudly continued the family business. In 2016, his nephew, Shawn, began bartending at Dundee’s and later became Greg’s partner in 2025. Greg cherished the many friendships and relationships he developed through the years with the people who walked through the doors of Dundee’s.

Greg was a member of the Sons of the Brownville American Legion and the Brownville Fishing and Game Club. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, spending time at the family cottage on the St. Lawrence River, and making memories with family and friends. You could also almost always find Greg making a trip to Stewart’s, where he enjoyed purchasing scratch-off tickets and treating himself to a strawberry milkshake.

He is survived by his two sisters and their husbands, Ginnie E. and Andrew Gray of Dexter, NY, and Lesley “Doll” and David Crawford; three nieces, Alanna Savage, Ashley (Rob) Roshia, and Cassandra (Ross) Braymer; two nephews, Aaron (Lexi) Crawford and Shawn Savage; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; two aunts, Donna Dundon and her companion, Myrna Carter of Clayton, NY, and Helen Brennan of Clayton, NY; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Glenn and Gail Dundon and an uncle Bill Dundon.

Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home. Due to ongoing renovations at the funeral home, services will be held at our affiliate, Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, 117 N. Massey Street, Watertown, New York.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 7, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a celebration of Greg’s life at Dundee’s in Brownville beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Burial in Brownville Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.

In memory of Greg, his family asks that friends and family consider bringing donations of food for the Brownville Food Pantry. Donations may be dropped off at the funeral home during calling hours, at Dundee’s in Brownville, or at the Dexter United Methodist Church.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of Greg’s extended family and friends from Dundee’s who supported, cared for, and loved him throughout the many years he owned and operated the bar in Brownville. The friendships and memories he made there meant so much to Greg and his family.
