Duane Deforest Swan, 63, of Dexter, New York, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2026.

He was born on June 10, 1962, in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he was raised. Duane later moved to Kansas, where he worked for many years as a mechanic, a trade he took great pride in. He eventually relocated to Dexter, New York, where he made his home with his beloved companion, Laura Cummings.

Duane had a passion for working on cars and enjoyed riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Laura Cummings of Dexter; her children, Thomas McIntyre of Kansas, Tara LaSage and Garrett Ostrum of Dexter, Tammi Cummings and her fiance Patricia Elliott of Ogdensburg, and Marisa Carey of Watertown; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sons and a sister.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place on Friday, May 22, at 1:00 PM at Dexter Cemetery.
