Darrel L. Thomas, 71, of Dexter, New York, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, at University Hospital in Syracuse, New York.

He was born on December 30, 1954, in Watertown, New York, the son of Lowell G. and Shelia L. Bryant Thomas. Darrel graduated from General Brown High School.

He married Linda Roux, and together they had a son, Matthew. The couple were married for 10 years.

Darrel began his working career with the Black River Paper Company before beginning a career in maintenance. He worked for the Village of Glen Park and eventually began working at Watertown International Airport in Dexter, where he was employed as a maintenance man for 25 years. Following his retirement, Darrel worked part-time for Greene Thumb as a maintenance man.

Darrel was a very artistic man who loved painting and wood carving. He took great pride in his artistic work.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew E. and Regina M. Thomas of Theresa, New York; his granddaughter, Elsie A. Thomas; his beloved companion, Barbara Bourcy; and three brothers, John and Steven Thomas of Pillar Point and Christopher Thomas of Watertown; a sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Stephen Lane, of Dexter, NY, and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Darrel’s wishes were to be cremated, and there will be no services at this time.
