Goodwin

Obituary

Cynthia D. Goodwin, 78, of Sackets Harbor, NY, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by the love and care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. She was born on December 22, 1947(she would deny that), in Watertown, New York, the daughter of Fred and Shirley (Johnson) Huchzermeier. Cynthia was a graduate of General Brown High School, class of 1966, and continued her education at Jefferson Community College. There she met and married Professor David Eason. Following their divorce she married David Derosia, and together they shared several years raising their daughter Abby.  Cyndie  later found the love of her life, Larry Goodwin, whom she married barefoot on Myrtle Beach on April 18, 1995.  The couple made their home in Sackets harbor, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Cynthia dedicated 25 years of her career to JRC, where she served as a preschool and rehabilitation director. She was known for her sharp wit (with no apologies), intelligence, and vibrant personality.  Cynthia had a love for the beach, tanning and good scotch.  She was known for her shabby chic decor, stylish fingernails and wigs.  She found joy in camping, traveling, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends (under her terms). Cyndie had a profound ability to empower anyone of her choosing to feel like they could conquer the world, or humble anyone she disagreed with. She is survived by her beloved husband, Larry N. Goodwin of Sackets harbor; her daughter, Abby Gayle Derosia of Watertown, and step children Cody Goodwin of Sackets Harbor, Creedence Cathey of Castorland, and Kyin Goodwin of Texas.  Her granddaughters include Kianna Derosia, SaVaun Frankson, and Cynessa Frankson; along with twelve additional grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Cynthia also leaves behind her cherished cats, Sexy Sadie and Mellow Yellow also known as "Hubbin" who brought her great companionship. She was predeceased by her parents and her granddaughter, SaRae Cherish White. Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.  A celebration of Cynthia's life will be scheduled at the discretion of her family and closest friends at a later date.

Donations in her memory may be made to the SPCA
