Alfred H. Webert, 98, of Dexter, New York, peacefully passed away on April 6, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.
He was born on October 22, 1925, in Watertown, New York, to Harry and Ruth Eddy Webert. After graduating from Brownville Glen Park HIgh School, he served in the U.S. Air Force before pursuing higher education through the GI Bill, earning a bachelor’s degree in business from Syracuse University. Alfred became a CPA, initially working for Fred Quencer before establishing his own practice, which he operated from his home in Dexter until his retirement in the 1990's.
On August 16, 1949, Alfred married Barbara Stumpf in Cape Vincent, New York, who preceded him in death on September 26, 2021. Barbara was a devoted homemaker.
Alfred served as a treasurer and Tax collector for the Village of Glen Park for 42 years and was known for his love of traveling, country music, reading, carpentry, and home projects. He took great pride in the fact he built his own home as well. He was a humble, honest, and generous man who was always there when needed.
He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law: Brenda and Eugene Snyder of Alex Bay, Anne Webert of Watertown, New York, and Julie Ingalls of Watertown, New York. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Kelly Foster and Allyson Ingalls, and one great-grandson, Forrest Ingalls.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara, a brother, Wesley Webert, and a grandson, Ryan Ingalls.
Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home, and there will be no services. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Dexter Cemetery.
