Herbert Hoover Herbert Hoover, formerly of Dexter, passed away at home on Monday morning. He was 74.

He was born in Evans Mills on March 29, 1936 to Earl and Gertrude Hoover. He served in the 3rd Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard, of the Army from 1955 – 1958. He married the love of his life, Shirley, on October 11, 1968 in Dexter where he lived until his retirement from Car Freshener in 2006. He never met a stranger and made friends instantly with everyone he met.

He is survived by his sons Clark & Wendy Hoover of Lancaster, PA and Brad & Katie Hoover of Corpus Christi, TX, a son-in-law Steven Crawford of Beavercreek, OH, and four grandchildren with one on the way. He is predeceased in death by his wife Shirley, his daughter Valerie Crawford, his parents and two sisters, Barb and Marilyn.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 15, 2010 at Dexter Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Herby’s name to the American Heart Association.
