Donald L. Haynes

Donald L. Haynes, age 71 of NYS Rte 3 Sackets Harbor passed away Saturday morning at Samaritan Medical Center.

Donald was born September 2, 1938 in Watertown, the son of Leslie and Catherine Crary Haynes. He attended various north country schools. He married Catherine Strader on December 14, 1957 in Watertown. The couple lived in Sackets Harbor and Catherine died in 2007.

Donald was a self-employed mechanic and retired in 2001. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed woodworking and storytelling.

He is survived by five daughters : Kezia and Steve Sullivan of Sackets Harbor, Kathy and Doug Schwalm of Pulaski, Karen and David Nellis of Sackets Harbor, Karol Haynes of Syracuse and Kelle Grandjean of Adams. He also has a brother Alan Barnhardt of Sackets Harbor, eight grandchildren, four dreat grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home at 13449 NYS Rte 3 Sackets Harbor on May 8th starting at 2:00 P.M. to celebrate their father's life. He will be cremated. Donations may be made to Sackets Harbor Fire Dept. or Hay Memorial Library Fund in his name. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
