John L. Typhair Jr., age 64 of Evans Rd. Dexter passed away at his home at 12:45 a.m. Sunday morning. He had been ill with C.O.P.D. and was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
John was born August 17, 1944 in Carthage, the son of John and Beryl Petrie Typhair Sr. He attended schools in Carthage. He worked in the foundry and machine shop at N.Y. AirBrake for 19 years and a short time after on a farm.
He married Linda Hemmingway which ended in divorce. He married Linda S. Fairbanks on July 22, 1978 in Watertown.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse shows, watching T.V. with grandchildren and visiting with Tina and Mark King.
He is survived by his wife Linda, and the following children: John and Kelly Typhair 4th of Dexter, Amy Typhair and Dave Hunt of Dexter, Jennifer Typhair and Eric Ames of Watertown, John Typhair 3rd of Plattsburgh, Roberta and Cecil Tamez of Nolanville, Texas and Michael and Charla Typhair of Capperas, Texas. He has 11 Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are sisters; Mildred and Sonny Mauyer of Lowville, Phyllis Allen of Lowville, Debbie and Bruce Guest of Syracuse, Myrtle Simmons of Watertown and brothers; William Typhair of Syracuse, Pete and Beverly Typhair of Watertown, Clayton and Margaret Typhair of Watertown, Stanley and Barbara Typhair of Watertown,Royal and Sherry Typhair of Watertown.
A brother Earl Typhair died in 1992 and sisters Cecelia and Rosie predeceased him.
Funeral services will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Don Bryant of Clayton Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Donations may be made to his family or Hospice of Jefferson County.
